The Hague’s Fokker Terminal best conference location in the Netherlands
Flexibility, creativity and a personal approach
The Fokker Terminal was founded ten years ago as an event location. Over the years it has undergone a huge transformation. An empty, abandoned hangar with old classrooms has turned into a full-service, multifunctional high-end conference and event location, equipped with the latest facilities. The Fokker Terminal has become popular for large-scale conferences and (business) events. The flexibility, creativity and personal approach of the location are some of the reasons why the venue has won this prestigious award. The venue can also offer advice on presentations and technical production to strengthen the client’s brand identity and give it an original and unforgettable appearance.
Because of its striking combination of steel, glass and concrete floors the Fokker Terminal has an industrial feel to it and a very impressive atmosphere. Built in 1959, the refurbished building that was formerly used by the school for aircraft engineering, is now housing 2,000 square metre (21,500 square foot) exhibition and event space. The heart of the building is formed by a massive 9 meter high airplane hangar. It offers room for plenary sessions ranging from 100 up to 1,000 visitors combined with for instance an exhibition floor. Because of the movable dividing curtain and audio visual equipment every event is easily customized. In the back of the hangar there are seven metres high and 26 metre-wide steel doors. The venue also offers eighteen different former classrooms, ideal for workshops and breakout sessions, with room capacities ranging from 40 to 250 people.
These breakout rooms are right next to the main hall, which makes it very convenient and easy to navigate. All varieties of catering can be arranged for tailor-made events.
Easy to reach
The political capital of the Netherlands and home to several international institutions, The Hague is at the industrial and business heart of the country. The Fokker Terminal is easy to access, Amsterdam Airport as well as Rotterdam The Hague Airport are close by. The nearby motorways offer direct connections to Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam, each less than 50 km away. Close to highway A4 and A12, the Fokker Terminal is easily accessible and it has 400 parking spaces.
The Binckhorst Avenue
The surrounding area of the Fokker Terminal is also undergoing a rapid transformation. The redevelopment of the district of the ‘Binckhorst' is currently in full swing and will be finished at the end of the year. The transition from the former industrial park to a vibrant and exciting new part of The Hague will soon be visible. The construction of the Rotterdamse Baan (direct tunnel connection between the A4 / A13 and the Binckhorst) is starting to take shape.
In addition to the growth of national conferences and business events, international organizers are increasingly opting for the Fokker Terminal. With this, the location generates an important economic spin-off for the city of The Hague. This also increases the city's reputation as a conference destination, in addition to the many hotels and the options for a city trip.
